How I think about failure domains and graceful degradation in live media control paths.
Control plane incidents are often low-QPS but high-impact.
A helpful principle is to separate control-plane correctness from data-plane continuity, so temporary control issues do not instantly break in-flight playback.
Design focus
- Isolate regional blast radius.
- Precompute safe fallback profiles.
- Prefer explicit operator visibility over hidden auto-recovery loops.
